Happy 14th birthday, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory!

Splash Damage's first game - Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory - was released exactly FOURTEEN YEARS ago. Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory was born on 29/05/2003. Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory was originally planned to be released as a commercial expansion pack to the popular FPS Return to Castle Wolfenstein and later as a standalone game.

However, due to problems with the single-player aspect, the multiplayer portion was released on 29 May 2003 as a freeware standalone game.
In January 2004, the source code for the game logic (not the game engine) was released to the benefit of its modding community.
The game uses a modified Return to Castle Wolfenstein engine, itself being a heavily modified Quake III: Team Arena engine (id Tech 3, which has been open-source since 2005).

As of the first day of the 2010 QuakeCon, 12 August the entire source code was released under the GNU General Public License v3.Multiple source ports have been started.

While the attempts made by OpenWolf and ET:Xreal concentrate on innovating the renderer, the most active community project ET: Legacy focuses on fixing issues by backporting improvements from ioquake3 while staying binary compatible to the original game client, server and its mods.

You didn't participate the first time and do you want to know know more about this event?
Here's what the No Goldrush Night is all about.
Just like last time, we are asking your help selecting the maps. You can suggest some fresh new maps or some very old but forgotten maps, which are out of the rotation since long time.
A couple of nice new gameplay modes will be added to the event, aside from the normal gameplay (attack/defence) mode.

New gameplay modes:
    Last Man Standing mode
    Gungame mode
    ET Pro Stopwatch mode
    Panzer only map.

We are planning to set up a 8-map rotation, so you are free to suggest maps for every mode or just for one.

UAC is gone

Published in ET Misc

UAC - Universal Anti-cheat 3 was discontinued as of 1.January.2014
The decision was made after we came to conclusion that our lifestyle has changed in those eight years and we have no more the free time needed to provide quality support of UAC. Please keep in mind that we are no company, only two guys who did this whole thing in their free time with no income from it whatsoever. The decision was hard to make, trust me. However it was for the best, because nobody want's to use outdated and unsupported software.

Universal Anti-cheat was client side anti cheat system created by Slovak software developer Dalibor Bartoš aka DExUS.
It was initially created in year 2005 then later in 2006 it was rebuilt to support SWAT4 community with wide SWAT4 cheat detections and in 2009 with UAC2 32 games were supported. The interest and popularity grew and thus UAC3 was created to accommodate all needs of the leagues.

UAC was free to use for everyone without any fee for whole time of it's existence with regular updates and fast tech support.
It was used in many leagues around the world, mentioning just some of them as Clanbase, ESL, CyberGamer and many more.

As of today 31.dec.2013 it had ~300 000 users and supporting 44 popular games like all Call of Duty titles, Battlefield, SWAT4 etc.
In order to function UAC used it's own dedicated server with customized linux OS for best performance with low bandwidth.
The web/database side was managed by Snipes in the early era of UAC (2005-2010) and later by Shii (2010-2013) who has created UAC3 pages and database system.

If you want to read more about the history of UAC it was pretty much sumarized

Dark Alchemy Gaming Community closed soon

Published in ET Scene

Dark Alchemy 2005 ~ 2017 - 12 Years of Gaming

Dear Regulars, Members and Followers, unfortunately we have to announce that on 31 March 2017 Dark Alchemy will be closed permanently.

This difficult decision was taken after a long period of observation, which led us to the conclusion that nowadays the Enemy Territory community is increasingly shrinking, and that for a community like ours, this reduction generates an activity equal or less than 20 % compared to a few years ago, when to enter the server you had to wait a few free slot.

Since 2005 we have been pioneers and have set an excellent base that allowed us to have fun and entertain many players for over 10 years.

Today we are able to decide to close with pride, avoiding to let the time and the lack of players to force us to do so.

For all the work done over the years, and all the players, the members, the former members and donors, who have honoured us with their presence, I express best thanks, hoping that all these years alongside Dark Alchemy, have left in you something pleasant and positive.

CyberGamer EU: A New Home for ET

Published in ET Scene

Welcome to CyberGamer EU, Enemy Territory!

With ESL dropping support for ET in May and ClanBase shutting down entirely last month, teams were left with no competitive ladders to participate in. By simply taking a quick look at the GamesTV match schedule, it is obvious that the lack of a ladder system is rather detrimental to the activity level of our beloved game. However, thanks to some help from Netherlands timbolina, I was able to get in contact with a CoD4 league who is interested in providing the ET community with ladders and more.

I am very happy to announce that CyberGamer EU now officially supports ET!

CyberGamer (CG) is a competitive gaming league that was founded by two Australian gamers in April 2007. It was originally for AU only, until July 2011 when CyberGamer Europe was launched. Today, the CG EU PC platform supports three games: Call of Duty 4, League of Legends, and Enemy Territory.

The Australian ET scene, led by Australia biggz and Australia volta, has been involved with cups and ladders on CG AU for several years, but CG EU has never had an official ET section - until now, at least!

CyberGamer has been kind enough to offer us a brand new CG EU Enemy Territory section on their website for running cups, ladders, and more, and are even in the process of developing their own anticheat called CGAC. The anticheat was released very recently and can only be used in CoD4 at the moment, but they are still working on it and may introduce a version for ET as well. I've also been told that a new CG website will be coming in a few months with some vast improvements.

So without further ado, here are the two new CG ET ladders:

CyberGamer ET 6on6 Ladder
Create a team - Read the rules
CyberGamer ET 3on3 Ladder
Create a team - Read the rules

The structure, rules, and maplists should be familiar as they are very similar to those which we had at ClanBase. However, please read the ladder rules carefully before playing.

Finally, allow me to introduce the four CG ET admins:
Slovenia Aniky
Canada embarrassed
United States of America ohurcool
Poland szczurek

As you can see, I will be joined by Aniky and szczurek from the ClanBase ET crew as well as embarrassed from the GamesTV admin team. We are very excited about this new opportunity and will be doing our best to ensure it is a success!

My suggestion is to check out the FAQ before doing anything else, since it may take some time to get used to how things work on CyberGamer.

Any questions, comments, or suggestions? Feel free to join and idle on our new IRC channel: #cg.et!
