Industrial Espionage - Engineer Assassin

Published in RtCW Maps

RtCW SP Industrial Espionage - Engineer Assassin by W0lfman

 === BACKGROUND STORY ===
World War II rages on in 1943 with no end in sight. The Kreisau Circle has gained intelligence that a top-ranking German engineer is scheduled to arrive for an inspection of a key manufacturing facility. Termination of this engineer would be a critical blow to the German war machine. Therefore, the Office of Secret Actions orders that Agent B.J. Blazkowicz be sent on an assassination mission to this facility.

=== MISSION BRIEFING ===
You are ordered to infiltrate a German manufacturing facility and terminate the engineer who is scheduled to lead an inspection therein. A double-agent working at the facility has arranged for the elevator to malfunction. After termination of the engineer, your best chance of a quiet escape is through the steam tunnel located beyond the main warehouse.

=== MORE ABOUT THIS MAP ===
I started working on this mission in February 2013, and had a beta test version by the end of December 2013. It would have been released in summer 2013, but the project was set aside for several months as I was working on a major redesign of my web site instead. This is my second mission for Wolfenstein.

The style and difficulty of game play should be similar to the official Wolfenstein maps. I made extra effort to build replay value into this map. It won't be exactly the same game each time you play.

The large warehouse full of crates is based upon the Government Warehouse from Indiana Jones. The room after the warehouse, the one with the barrel ceiling, is based on a picture of a prison block that I saw in a magazine. I think it was Alkatraz. It was all concrete, two levels, with the center open to below.

There are two secret areas in this map, and they are around the same place. One is fairly easy to reach. The other one is a bit trickier to reach.

I appreciate the play testing and feedback given to me by the following people:
- vicpas

=== INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ===
Place the df_eng.pk3 file in your Wolfenstein/Main directory, then boot Wolfenstein, open the console, and type /spmap df_eng to start playing.

The source file is included so you can see how the map was made and you can make your own changes. You do not need any permission to use ideas or any part of this map in your own work, nor permission to release any map you created based upon it.

Competitive History - RtCW Movie

Published in RtCW Movies

RTCW - Competitive History - QuakeCon 2003 - Made by Homie

Since March 2015, I have been collecting and archiving RTCW demos and shoutcasts of the oldschool competitive scene (2002-2007). I also have been recording and uploading these on my youtube channel over the last 4,5 years. My final goal was and is to make some sort of ultimate "RTCW Competitive History movie" for RTCW its 20th birthday. In 2016-2017 I was already working on some clips of various tournaments but I never got to actually finish anything.

The main issue I faced was that finding frags and recording in RTCW is very tedious and time consuming. I didn't want to continue until I found some way to speed up this process. In early 2018, with the help of Kimi, Crumbs and MAN-AT-ARMS, I managed to create one ultimate RTCW movie mod and a small Python module that can scan for frags in my entire demo archive at once. Kimi also modified the LibTech 3 code of Hannes that allows me to cut certain frags from demos, which saves me a huge amount of time to record. Without these people, this movie would have never seen the light of day.

I decided to invest my time on one tournament at a time, instead of creating the full history movie at once. QuakeCon 2003 was the first on my list. I started working on it from February 2018, taking a lot of breaks to avoid making something generic without any inspiration and taking the path of least resistance. I got hugely inspired by -Max- his work on the Ultraviolet Volume series. I wanted to do something similar like this for a very long time. This was the most challenging video project I ever did, and while it is not perfect, I'm very happy with the final output. I hope to create and release more videos of this series next year. I also want to thank MerlinatoR, bully, -Max-, Kris, Twister and superboyy for helping me with this project.

Enjoy watching!

RtCW Coop 1.0 (Final)

Published in RtCW Mods

Return to Castle Wolfenstein Cooperative 1.0 - After more than a year (time flies), there is finally a new release.

MAN-AT-ARMS has put most of his time in this new release and as usual ssf.sage managed to fix lots map bugs.
Which resulted in a stable 1.0.0 version of this awesome game.

What do we have ?

The gameplay is exactly the same as in previous release, but its stable and rock solid. So you probably think, so whats new ?
For those of you who know the Quake 3 Arena Engine mod, ioquake3, I have good news for you, all the ioquake3 features are ported to rtcwcoop.

For those of you who don’t know what’s ioquake3 is, these are the important features in a nutshell:
    New sound code to have better sound quality
    64bit support
    built-in voice-over-ip (voip), if you have a headset and the server enables the feature, you can now talk to your coop friends
    avi video capture of demos, no more rendering thousands of tga files
    much improved autocompletion of console commands
    console history (it remembers the commands from your previous sessions)
    http/ftp downloads, aka faster map downloads
    and lots of bug and security fixes
    A completely new (and optional) renderer, which gives you a lot more eyecandy (to enable it, type in the console: /cl_renderer rend2; vid_restart, to disable it: replace rend2 with opengl1 )

One other important change is that we’ve moved all the coop related files from ‘main’ to a folder called ‘coopmain’, this allows you to mix the stock rtcw mp and sp games with coop, you don’t have to copy all the pk3′s to a new place for coop to work.

Knightmare Patch for Rtcw SP - 1.42d

Published in RtCW Misc

New Knightmare Patch Released for Rtcw SP - 1.42d!

This is a simple patch that fixes the startup crash caused by newer video drivers, (erroneously attributed to Windows 7).
It adds fully native widescreen support. Support for "nVidia Surround" and "ATI Eyefinity",  via in-menu custom video modes and a few other fixes and tweaks. It also fixes the crash at the map level transition from RtCW SP map "Dam" to RtCW SP map "Paderborn", (aka village2).
It is based on the v1.41 source released by John Carmack in September 2010. However, as this release is not made or supported by Gray Matter, id Software, Activision or Bethesda, please don't ask them for support with this.

# Installation Instructions
You should back up the "WolfSP.exe", "cgamex86.dll", "qagamex86.dll" and "uix86.dll" files in your Return to Castle Wolfenstein folder before installing this.
This can be done simply by making a subfolder called "backup" or "old" and moving the above files there. Once you have done this, just extract the download into your Return to Castle Wolfenstein folder.

# Please Note
This patch includes modified menu files in the "sp_pak4.pk3" file.  These files were edited to add the new "scralign" attribute to various objects, to change how they scale in widescreen video modes.  "System.menu" and "ingame_system.menu" were also edited to add the new video modes, anisotropic filtering support and hardware gamma support.
Mods or map packs which change the menu files will need to be edited to replicate these changes, or they won't work correctly with this patch.
