After a year of development, I've decided it's time for a release... Wolf 1.42 (aka iortcw) is an updated game engine for Return to Castle Wolfenstein based on the open source ioquake3 engine. There are hundreds of fixes and new features to bring the game more up to date while staying compatible with existing 1.41 release. Look the Image Gallery!

What's new: (1.42)

Client:
SDL backend
OpenAL sound API support (multiple speaker support and better sound quality)
Full x86_64 (64-bit) support (all platforms including Mac)
Optional new OpenGL2 based renderer for improved graphics. See rend2-readme.txt
Bloom lighting for original renderer
VoIP support, both in-game (using Opus 1.1 codec) and external support through Mumble. See voip-readme.txt
Correct handling of widescreen resolutions
IPv6 support
Working master server list (with support for multiple master servers)
Built-in game minimizer
AVI video capture of demos
Much improved console autocompletion

What's new: (1.42a)

Client:
Updated SDL backend to 2.0.3 (improved video and input handling)
Update cl_guid support to use Punkbuster GUID's (based on CD Key like official 1.41 client)
Updated curl libraries to support downloads from secure (https and ftps) servers (both IPv4 and IPv6)
Sound fixes (some stuttering, volume, and doppler issues fixed)
Rend2 (updated renderer) fixes (especially lighting and cubemap fixes)
Add support for gender specific obituaries (using cvar sex "male"/"female")
Fixed flag animations when using QVMs
Fixed crash with QVM->dll communication
Fixed AI showing phone jack (connection interrupt) icons when dead (Single Player)
Fixed colored name padding in status command
Add new command 'cvar_modified' to show a list of all cvars that were changed from defaults.
Random bug fixes
Added sample config to enable hi quality graphics using new renderer (In console, /exec hiquality.cfg; vid_restart)
- *Requires OpenGL2/3 capable video card/drivers*

Server:
Added support for map specific configs (to set server cvars on a per map basis, such as gametype, respawn times, etc.)
- To use, create a 'mapcfgs' folder inside of 'main' to hold you per map configs. Naming convention is .cfg
Fix pk3 download error messages
Potential filesystem issue fixed

RtCW Singleplayer Mission Vendetta

Yo$hik has now released his RtCW SP Mission, Vendetta. This excellent release contains new weapons, a new soundpack, new models, great graphics and much more. This is a "must have" for all Return to Castle Wolfenstein fans, old and new.

You do NOT need a copy of Return to Castle Wolfenstein in order to play Vendetta, it is a "stand alone" game with it's own installer, so download and enjoy this epic adventure.

(The Mission)

Allied Intelligence has learned that the German military are developing a revolutionary new aircraft, "Helicopter" combat prototypes, which can destroy armored vehicles and infantry. You are a resistance fighter who has the task of eliminating all important personnel of the Third Reich who are connected with this new project. Your mission becomes even more difficult and more important,  as you must also find real evidence and documentation of the project before these military prototypes are able to take to the battlefield.

The first game ever where Splash Damage ever officially contributed by: Return to Castle Wolfenstein, is proud 12 years old! RtCW, published by Activision, was released to the North American market on November 19th, 2001.

Many happy years has given us the revolutionize teamplay shooter. Although the ravages of time relentlessly gnaws and gradually RTCW seems tired, but there are still fighting for flags and documents.

Das erste Spiel, wo SplashDamage jemals offiziell mit beitrug: Return to Castle Wolfenstein wird jetzt stolze 12 Jahre alt! RtCW, herausgegeben von Activision, wurde im nordamerikanischen Markt am 19. November 2001 freigegeben.

Viele schöne Jahre hat uns der Shooter-Meilenstein, der das Teamplay revolutioniert hat, bis jetzt beschert.
Auch wenn der Zahn der Zeit unaufhaltsam nagt, und RtCW allmählich müde wirkt, werden auch heute noch heiße Schlachten um Dokumente und Flaggen ausgetragen.
