RtCW Legacy Cup

Published in RtCW Scene

The brand new Return to Castle Wolfenstein cup has been announced and this time around bit more organized, more intense, more exciting and more games to be covered! Take a closer look at the announcement for RtCW Legacy Cup!

I am glad to announce this brand new tournament for Return to Castle Wolfenstein! Last cup was a huge success despite lack of my own motivation which actually went pretty well afterall. This time around I have made some changes in the admin department and it will be a huge upgrade for me in order to run the tournament smoothly as possible. I have chosen to switch the platform of the tournament from ClanBase to BinaryBeast ( www.binarybeast.com ) , huge thanks goes to CEO/Owner of BinaryBeast to help me out on some things and we will be featured on the main page. Thanks Brandon S!

So... let's get down to business, enough chitchat! I would like to have your attention here now. The cup will be in 6vs6 format as usually and in ABBA stopwatch mode. The ruleset has been changed a lot and has been made player-friendly as possible, I will try to update them on the run in order to be crystal clear before we enter into battlemode. I won't talk a lot about the rules here since as a player it's your job to be familiar with the rules so there wouldn't be any questions left unanswered! There are some things to think about as well, I have decided to cap the one team roster size to 9. As we saw some of the teams had more than that so this rule could maybe form more teams instead one huge one. The maplist will be finalized by this sunday (07.04.13).

Whats next? Well there a lot to tell. First of all I would like to let you guys know that this tournament will include prizes! So your job right now is to give out your opinions on this post as well what would you like to see for the prizes since we have dilemma. It can be mouses, headsets... you name it, we delivery it!
It's important for us so please take your time and give us the feedback!

Tournament schedule:
31.03.2013 - Signups opened!
28.04.2013 - Signups closed, groups formed!
29.04.2013 - 1st matchweek takes off!

Rest is unfortunately TBD since the signups may vary so as soon as I will know the exact amount of signups and teams playing I will give out the full schedule for the groupstage and playoffs! Please bear with me on this one. Sorry!

As we move closer to the closing of the signups I will make sure everyone will be notified!

About signing up!
This is the tournament website -  http://binarybeast.com/xRtCW1303300
Please take your time and read the RULESET! This is important for the players and team captains!

Only the team captain has to signup on the website and rename nick to the team name they will use in the cup!!! After signup, PM me on IRC ( #rtcw.wars @ quakenet.org ) with your full roster and their PB_GUID's!!!

If there is a team signed up with no information given to me, I will remove them and won't consider them as competitors in the cup!

As in the previous cup we saw some legends return. This time it's not different.
Our casting team will be covering the cup AGAIN! All of the WarwitchTV crew wants to thank all the supporters and followers. It was amazing to cast again for all of those guys!

UBIK RTCW MOVIE from the Anniversary Cup 2012-2013 by bloxzin - This was originally going to have a lot more effort put into it but moving overseas so had to finish asap.
This also messed up not being able to get brandon's demos (our teams only low pinger haha).
Sooo don't expect frags of week kind of stuff but instead sloppy delayed action that is border line clean enough. Footage v birdz, radd, stable and n0.
We are all from either aus or nz so not known around here but all enjoyed being involved in the cup, even though we were the only team not to get a stream I think!!!! haha. we that bad???? Also crossfire most committed team award haha!! we done like monday mornings 1-3am sometimes. Also played all matches on usa servers!! even when we had an aus server some teams bitched soo hard about the lag that we put up with normally....you know who you are.

Thanks to biggz our captain, always arranging times and doing work. And warwitch for bringing the game sooo much life back.

IGN have undertaken the mammoth task of compiling the Top 100 First Person Shooters of all time from all of the shooters released in the past 20 or so years. It’s great to see Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory make the list a full decade after its release, deploying in the #84 spot.

Back in the dark age of the FPS, multiplayer was nothing but a bunch of people running in every direction at once with their triggers held down like savages. Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory wasn't the first game to feature objective-focused, class-based competitive play, but its free, open-sourced nature exposed a massive amount of new players to the concept, opening the door for what eventually grow into a much larger trend in multiplayer design.

As a reboot of the franchise that started the genre, Return to Castle Wolfenstein had a lot to live up to. And though it didn't constitute the wheel re-inventing some had hoped it would be, it was still an excellent take on the space between fighting soldiers and fighting hellspawn. In many ways it was just a natural extension of Wolfenstein 3D's controversial final boss, taking historical myths about the Nazis dabbling in the occult and swinging for the fences with them. But it would be the multiplayer that would be remembered most fondly, keeping scads of frag-heads tethered to their gaming rigs until the wee hours for months and years to come.

The great-granddaddy of first-person shooters, Wolfenstein 3D launched the genre we take for granted today. It was inspired by Castle Wolfenstein and its sequel, a pair of relatively crude 2D stealth shooters that pit you against Nazi guards. The metamorphosis into 3D (well, pseudo 3D) was like sorcery in 1992. Gone were the stealth elements; the golden age of run-and-gun shooters erupted with the roar of a chaingun as you blasted through three glorious episodes filled with Nazis and even Adolf Hitler himself as a boss. Id's breakout achievement directly (and indirectly) gave birth to Doom, Rise of the Triad, and every other shooter that followed.

You can check out the rest of the list over at IGN.

RTCW CF Draftcup II

Published in RtCW Scene
Image Introduction: Because of the upfloating interest in the game thanks to the stream provided in the RTCW 3v3 ODC #5 by ZeD & Malmen a few weeks ago, I thought i'd be a good time to announce another RTCW 6v6 Crossfire Draftcup. I'm aiming to get 8 teams to play in a double elimination bracket.

Motivation: So why should you bother signing up? Cause RtCW is still one of the best games ever created. If you still want to try RtCW out, now might be your last chance. If you are an ETplayer, don't worry. There are still plenty RtCW players who can carry you. The only thing that you have to do is click that download button. You can generate a fully working CD-Key by using the ETKeygen inside. Last but not least, there will be a great livestream & shoutcast for the most exciting matches!

Crossfire Prizefight Challenge 2 beendet

Published in RtCW Scene
